DAP - KING | Ses Rêveries

I will be half-chuffed, half-sad when DAP goes mainstream... Yes, when. It'll be like K-Dot and the Hip Hop hipsters all over again.

This single was one of those "nooooo, I wasn't readyyyyyy" moments this week. Since I discovered his music about a year ago, DAP has consistently gone from strength to strength lyrically, vocally and in his trademark cross-genre productions with each release. And KING is definitely a stand-out track from his repertoire. The track is energetic, enthralling and effective with witty one-liners and unrelenting attitude. The intro - a snippet from a traditional Yoruba track I have yet to accept will remain unknown to me - leads you in with its intriguing unfamiliarity, and the charming Hip-Hop-meets-House production keeps you hooked in 'hype' mode. Think arbitrary parking lot chilling with this song blasting out of the car's speakers.

The rhythmic synths and effortless feel, and DAP's expressive flow give this track that listen-rinse-and-repeat status. If you're one of those lucky people who get to live on the other side of the Atlantic and not have to be force-fed tea and crumpets on the daily (#stereotypesftw), DAP might be hosting a release party for Goodbye for Never on October 23 as well.

Keep an eye on his Twitter for updates.

KING comes off Goodbye For Never, DAP's fourth project and the highly-anticipated sequel to Goodbye for Now.
